We are excited to offer our infants, pregnant patients, and seniors protection against RSV! Simply call (704)892-5454 to schedule your or your infant’s RSV immunization.

For the first time ever, we now have protection for our infants, pregnant individuals, and adults 60+ years of age against a dangerous virus.
Davidson Family Medicine is excited to offer BEYFORTUS administered specifically for your infant to prevent RSV. The Beyfortus antibody immunization is now available at our office for all newborns and babies under 1 year of age. Simply call our office (704)892-5454 to schedule or ask at your baby’s well-child exam this fall and winter.
We also have the Abrysvo vaccination available for pregnant individuals 32 through 36 weeks’ gestation and for all individuals 60+ years of age in a one-time vaccination.
Why protect against RSV?
Two out of three infants are infected with RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) during their first year of life and almost all children are infected by their second birthday. In the U.S., RSV is the leading cause of hospitalization in infants under 12 months, averaging 16 times higher than the annual rate for influenza. Approximately 75% of infants hospitalized for RSV are born healthy and at term with no underlying conditions.
Who should get Beyfortus?
➡️ Beyfortus is administered to infants in a one-time injection and can be administered with any other childhood vaccine. Side effects are mild and infrequent (<0.3%) and include injection site redness and rash. (It is not needed if the mother had the RSV vaccine during pregnancy.)

Who should get Abrysvo?
➡️ Abrysvo is administered as a one-time vaccination for pregnant individuals 32-36 weeks of gestation and individuals ages 60+ years. Although it can be given with other vaccines, we usually administer it separately or along with the flu vaccine.
We are excited to keep you and your family protected against RSV, and look forward to seeing you soon!

We’re Joining the Alo and Avance Care Family

Dear patients and friends,

This month marks the beginning of a new chapter for Davidson Family Medicine. We’d like to share some exciting news with you about how we’re making our practice even stronger as we continue our journey to provide the best healthcare experience for years to come.

We are joining forces with North Carolina-based company Alo, effective October 1, 2023. Alo is a company that helps independently owned physician practices across the state with their business operations, technology, and other related functions. Alo is also the parent company of Avance Care, a network of 30+ comprehensive primary care and behavioral health clinics in North Carolina, including six in the Charlotte area.

We’re excited to assure you that our entire clinical team of eleven Physicians and Advance Practice Clinicians will continue to practice medicine with the patient at the center of all that we do. We will continue under the strong managerial leadership of our longstanding practice manager Vone McDaniel. All of our clinicians love practicing medicine – no one is retiring! – and we all look forward to many more years of relationships with our patients. Furthermore, we are thrilled to continue under the name Davidson Family Medicine, a practice formed 23 years ago to provide personalized quality care for all members of our community.

Our partnership with Alo and Avance Care will benefit our patients with valuable resources which have proven difficult to provide within the limitations of a smaller practice. We plan to utilize the technology and expertise within Alo and Avance Care to expand the services we offer. For example, we will integrate with the Avance Care Behavioral Health team to provide more accessible mental health services. Our patients will now have access to improved nutritional counseling. Our Electronic Health Records system will be upgraded to improve your patient portal and make appointments even easier. And we look forward to collaborating with the hundreds of medical professionals in the Alo Clinically Integrated Network to make sure you’re getting the best possible care. We will also continue to have the freedom to refer to the best specialists in any hospital system to make sure you get the best care possible.

We know that changes like these, especially with your trusted healthcare provider, can create uncertainty. Healthcare in general has been undergoing rapid changes—some good and some not so good. We fully believe this change will be great for our patients, staff and community. At DFM we’ve searched for ways to maintain our independence and ability to make decisions free from the influence of a large hospital system, while remaining financially sustainable and able to serve our community for years to come.

Alo and Avance Care share these goals with us wholeheartedly. They are the right partners to help us do even more for the community we’re proud to serve.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

Craig J. White, MD
